Asma y cirugía antirreflujo

Se presentan los resultados obtenidos en once pacientes con reflujo gastroesofágico patológico, quienes entre sus síntomas extraesofágicos refirieron la presencia de asma que requería el uso de inhaladores y que fueron sometidos a operación antirreflujo por laparoscopia tipo Nissen-Rosseti, entre julio de 1997 y febrero de 2001. En esta serie se observó un franco predominio femenino (1 a 4,5), dos hombres y nueve mujeres; el promedio de edad fue de 50,6 años. Sólo dos tuvieron síntomas extraesofágicos puros. Los pacientes han tenido un seguimiento postoperatorio promedio de tres años y se obtuvo mejoría o curación del asma en 81,8%; 50% está curado.
